My own journey chasing sunsets along the Oregon coast began in the charming town of Cannon Beach, located about 80 miles west of Portland.

This picturesque beach town is home to one of the most iconic landmarks on the coast: Haystack Rock. Rising 235 feet above the sea, this monolithic basalt formation has become a symbol of the beauty and majesty of the Oregon coast.

As the sun began to set, I found myself walking along the beach, listening to the sound of waves crashing against the shore and marveling at the sight of Haystack Rock silhouetted against the sky.

Manzanita: Seven Miles of Pristine Beach and a Panoramic View

As I made my way further down the coast, I discovered the small town of Manzanita, nestled between the mountains and the sea. This idyllic community boasts seven miles of pristine beach, as well as a charming downtown area filled with shops, restaurants, and art galleries.ย

As the sun began to set, I climbed up Neahkahnie Mountain, located just north of town, and gazed out at the stunning panoramic view of the coastline. The orange and pink hues of the sunset painted the sky, casting a warm glow over the landscape and creating a truly magical moment.

Yachats: Rugged Cliffs and the Mesmerizing Cape Perpetua Sunset

Further south, I found myself in the quaint town of Yachats, home to some of the most rugged and awe-inspiring coastline in all of Oregon. This small community is situated at the base of the Cape Perpetua Scenic Area, a stretch of coastline that offers breathtaking views of the sea, rocky cliffs, and dense forest.

As the sun began to set, I ventured out to Cape Perpetua and watched in awe as the sky turned a deep shade of red and the sun slowly slipped below the horizon. It was a truly mesmerizing sight, one that left me feeling humbled by the power and beauty of nature.

Florence: Towering Sand Dunes and a Tranquil Sunset

Continuing my journey south, I arrived in the charming town of Florence, located at the mouth of the Siuslaw River. This picturesque community is known for its historic Old Town district, as well as its miles of sandy beaches and towering sand dunes.

As the sun began to set, I ventured out to the dunes and watched as the sky turned shades of pink and purple. The sun cast a warm, golden light over the sand, creating a truly stunning sight.

I felt as though I was standing on the edge of the world, watching as the sky and sea blended together in a wash of colors.

Newport: Vibrant Attractions

As my journey chasing sunsets came to an end, I found myself in the bustling town of Newport, located in the heart of the central coast. This vibrant community is home to a plethora of attractions, including the Oregon Coast Aquarium, the Yaquina Bay Lighthouse, and the Newport Historic Bayfront.ย

Majestic Yaquina Head Lighthouse

As the sun began to set, I made my way to the Yaquina Head Lighthouse, located just north of town. The lighthouse, which has been guiding ships since 1873, stands tall and proud against the sea, offering a stunning view of the coastline.

As the sun began to dip below the horizon, I watched as the lighthouse cast its beacon out to sea, illuminating the water and creating a truly magical moment.
